Bitrate value changes incorrectly after saving tags on m4a files

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a strange issue with mp3tag.

Every time I edit and save the metadata of an m4a file, the displayed bitrate value changes unexpectedly. It seems the software is either misreading the header or altering the way the bitrate is reported after the tags are written.

I have attached two screenshots to demonstrate this:

  1. Image 1: The original bitrate before saving.

  2. Image 2: The modified bitrate after saving the tags

Crucially, this only happens with version 3.31. Previous versions did not exhibit this behavior.

I find it much more alarming that the information about VBR is lost.
Could it be that this particular file is broken?

Absolutely not. It happens with all files saved in version 3.31. Rolling back to version 3.30 makes everything perfect again.

Is it possible that you mean't v3.33.1 and rolled back to v3.33?

Please try if it's fixed for you with Mp3tag v3.34-beta.7.

Thank you for the update. I have tested the new version, and it seems that the issue I reported has been corrected. I will continue to use it and let you know if anything else comes up. Thank you for your help.
