Bits Per Sample for PCM audio?

While bit rate is useful for streaming, why is bit rate an option for PCM WAV files?

Can the Bit Depth (also called Bits Per Sample) be viewed and edited?

You can find a list of available Technical information fields in the documentation.
They all can be viewed only.
(They all start with an underscore %_ and are read-only.)
