Can't drag files out of mp3tag (only creates shortcut)

Hi, I’ve been using mp3tag for many years, but recently ran into a change in behavior.

On Windows 11 I have been able to select and drag files out mp3tag and onto my desktop (or other folders). But recently when I do that, it only creates a shortcut to the original file location instead of moving the files.

I am not sure if this has to do with my Windows environment, or if there is a setting for this.

Any help is appreciated.

Can you please try with Mp3tag v3.32b?

It works with 332.b.
But:
If the file already exists in the destination, the usual message appears asking if you want to replace it, etc. If you don't respond to this message quickly and leave the window open, an error message appears.

This version does let me drag files out without having to hold CTRL.

However the files are copied, where previously they would be moved.

DD with CTRL
Please note the very small + sign in the lower right corner of the drag & drop-Icon.
If the + is visible: A copy will be dropped.

If you press and hold the Shift-key:
The + is NOT visible: The file will be moved to the target (folder, Desktop)

The default in Mp3tag v3.32b is currently COPY

Thanks for pointing! This is unfortunately also happening in the official v3.32.

I've (hopefully) fixed this with Mp3tag v3.32c and learned yet another thing about COM threading.

I've changed the preferred drop operation to MOVE with Mp3tag v3.32c (also confirmed that it was working like that with versions prior to v3.32).

With the newest Mp3tag v3.32c the default behaviour is now MOVE.
If you want to COPY your file from the File List (to an additional, different location),
you need to press the Ctrl-key to make the little + sign appear, as shown above.
