Cinch Audio Artwork

I have been using Mp3tag for years and found it invaluable. I used to use Replay Music to record the streaming from Spotify but found it rather clunky and it missed a lot of tagging particularly of recent music. I have swapped to Cinch Audio recorder which is simpler and seems far more accurate on the tagging. However although it shows the tags and artwork correctly on the Cinch programme when I transfer it to Mp3tag the tags pick up correctly but not the artwork - anyone know why? Thanks

Please check if the artwork is embedded in such a track.
Load a track into Mp3tag and press Alt + T to check if the cover is visible.

Maybe the cover will be displayed in "Cinch" as separate file from the album folder?

Thanks LL. No the artwork does not appear in Mp3tag (even when Alt+T pressed). So I presume problem is with Cinch The artwork definately appears with the other tags in that software.

The extended tags dialogue from a single file without artwork would still be of interest as it would show whether you have APE tags in the file.
If so, then it would be worthwhile to check the settings in Ctrl-O Options>Tags>Mpeg whether you read APE tags.
If so, switch that off and see if it helps.

After a short test I can confirm that "Cinch Audio Recorder" does NOT save the cover art inside your mp3 track (aka "embedded").
More exactly: It safes something in the track, but not according to the ID3 standard.

If you load an already tagged song into "Cinch Audio Recorder" and try to add or change the cover art picture, it does not only delete the existing cover art, it also deletes all tag fields excepting ALBUM, ARTIST, TITLE and YEAR!

I could not find a reason why the 5th field GENRE can be filled in the "Chinch Audio Recorder" but not will be saved into the track.

Be very careful if you use this software with tagged mp3 tracks.

(The "buy this software" links leads to an unreachable order.shareit website...)

Thanks again LL.
I will contact them about the artwork. I only require Album, artist album and year (plus artwork) any way. I had trouble registering with them initially and contacted them - they apologized for the first site being down and provided a new site - Bitsdujour which worked fine. The Cinch software works well - just a shame about the artwork. Still I can load that through mp3tag.

Thanks for your feedback @Classicsman

Please let us know when they fix the problem with the artwork.
And maybe they can fix the problem with the GENRE too?

(If they only let you enter 5 tag fields - ALBUMARTIST is not available -

it would be great if the content would adhere to the ID3 standard for mp3).

My spidey senses would be tingling if software that already was limited in how it functioned outside of the id3 spec also had website issues and redirected me to yet another site to purchase. Not to mention the questionable practice of recording from a streaming service where the terms of use prohibit that. Certainly mp3tag does its part well and is not the issue here.

With all its limitations and apparently extra costs I would recommend Foobar2000 - many more functions and so far freeware (Feb. 2025).
