Clearing ID3V1 tag fields

as you claim to be capable of understanding German, please have a look at the wikipedia entry for mp3 tags, esp. the section von v1 tags and their misinterpretation of special characters.
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3-Tag#ID3v1

in addition, I do not like the way you accuse the members of this forum not to take you seriously. As far as I can see the only thing that is not taken seriously in this discussion are the technical limitations of different tag versions and the implementation of player firmware.

  1. Thank you. From what I found new is that in v2 UTF was initially not supported. This just underlines my thoughts about the whole tag system not being taken seriously enough by developers.

  2. ??? I understand you may feel this way, however nothing of such I wrote here. Actually you "made the impression" you are a developer, however there are some questions which remained unanswered (due to? I guess you can not do that). Now you made your job, you helped me as far as your knowledge goes, and be sure to have read all my thank you's for that, however I hoped, someone would help me to get answers for tweaking the tagging code. I see no one here has either time or knowledge to do so and since you could not give me another link where I would find such geeks, I guess there has not been done enough in developing this system. For quite some time the official ID3tag website is down, etc.

Do you maybe think I should rather post in the German forum here in order to get answered? I could do so, however I like to stick to the topic and not to spam around.

I am not quite sure what you mean by "the system".
If you mean the developed standard - well, that's the way it is.
If you think of MP3tag then do not mix MP3tag with the ID3 tags - Mp3tag is a program for tagging, probably one of the best, but by no means the defender or safeguard of the ID3 standard.

I still doubt that there are tweeks to meet your requirements. As far as I understood you, you do not want to change anything of your current setup, a setup that has produced just that behaviour that you do not like.
Only because your car players apparently cannot cope with V2 tags you are stuck with the limitations of V1 tags and now you want to have a fairy or something to put that right?

Again: MP3tag serves the standard for ID3 tagging.
A discussion about the ID3 standard or compatibilities as such or more clever players is not the subject of this forum (that's the way I see it). The ID3 standard has been passed.

If the ID3 tags do not meet your requirements then you have to find a different solution - perhaps by using the filenames as information storage.
But: there may be different worlds out there that only accept DOS 8.3 names and not joliet ... or different characters serve different purposes like the slash or backslash ... so you have this problem not only with ID3 tags.

Perhaps you have to find a clever way to replace the special characters as one would do with "umlauts": ä becomes ae, ß becomes ss and so on.

MP3tag would help you to create such entries.

I have again been misunderstood.

1.) a)Yes and b)no. I am not so dull not to get the difference. But there is just nowhere else I can go and ask for tweaks.

2., 4., 5.) I told you, it is a lot of players that do not support UTF. And I mean new cars and systems. As I see, it is not only v1 problem ...
All I need is that there would be a developer somewhere to make this work better for special characters. If you are ok with replacing umlauts (which BTW all of my players DO SUPPORT), then please do so, however it makes no sense to say the system is ok, if majority have problems with it. And there is no way that you can replace our characters. No official way. I am doing an official project. So no way. I do not need fairys, just fair systems and solutions.

3.) See my first answer.

I do not understand if there are tools like MP3VAL etc. how is it not possible to manually tweak that info about blocksize etc. to get at least the audio to play correctly in most of present players. This is what bothers me the most, more than the character problems. But I guess none here understands this system in order to give me any specific answers.

Thanks for your effort though.
Herzliche Grüße aus Slowenien und seid alle hier echt nicht böse auf mich, denn ich möchte nur eksakte Antworten haben, nichts mer als dass ...
