Column "Tag" has ID3v2.3 (ID3v1 ID3v2.3 APEv2)

I have an mp3 album that shows the mp3tag "Tag" column as per the topic title and I'd like it to be the same as my other albums e.g. ID3v2.3 (ID3v1 ID3v2.3), assuming that is the right standard to aim for. I know ID3v2.4 exists but that seems to be not very widely supported.

So, am I correct to aim for ID3v2.3 (ID3v1 ID3v2.3) and does this mean that the v2.3 tags are written at the start of the file and the v1 tags at the end of the file.

My options are set as follows in options-tags-mpeg:

read id3v1 id3v2
write id3v1 id3v2 (id3v2.3 UTF-16 ticked)
remove id3v1 id3v1 ape

I've tried updating tags with a dummy change but the apev2 is not removed.

Is there something I can do to get rid of the apev2?

using 2.61d beta

Cut tag
paste tag

Just worked out what to do - for some reason I had assumed that when tags of various standards were written that other tags would be removed as per the options-tags-mpeg write and remove rules but you have to explicitly remove tags with Remove Tag or CTRL-r.

So I set the remove option now to APE and then Remove Tag and the ape tags are moved.

I think I understand a bit more about how mp3tag works.

Not sure what you mean by cut and paste tag...

The menu Edit or the context menu of the files list has these special functions for manipulating tags.
With these functions you can use the data from one file for other ones.
Or get rid of unwanted tag versions.
