Conductor Field Mapping?

Hi - I'm after some pointers please.
I've done a lot of reading about tags and MP3 vs FLAC/Vogg Orbis but I am no further forward.
I have an almost exclusively Classical Music Library and done extensive work in MP3tag. My library is about 40% FLAC and 60% MPEG-4AAC from itunes days a few years back. I'm re-ripping to FLAC.

I cannot get the Conductor field to work for me and it's inconsistent
On SOME Flac files I can see a 'Conductor' field in the extended tag menu
But on other FLAC files, I have 'Composer' followed by 'Encoder' but nothing where 'Conductor' field should be.

On MPEG-4AAC files I see no 'Conductor' field.

If I load my library into Media Monkey, I can manually input into a field they call 'Conductor' and it works - but only in MM - I can't then find that text in any of the tags in Mp3Tag... why?
If I load my library into MusicBee - same result, but at least MM and MusicBee see each others 'Conductor' tags.
If I add text into the Conductor field in Mp3Tag it disappears when I move the focus off the record..

Clearly the 'Conductor' field in Mp3Tag is a) not working (incompatible?) and/or not mapping to the same fields in MM or MusicBee and vice versa ....

Does anyone know if it's possible to populate the conductor field in Mp3Tag so that it can be 'seen' by MM or MusicBee? OR create a field in Mp3Tag that I can populate that will then map to the Conductor fields in MM / MusicBee?

Many thanks
Chris

Conductor is a standard ID3 field, see the documentation:

ID3 tags are not used by flac files, though, you find vorbis comments instead.
So it would be up to the player's features to find out which tag fields it is ready to show and to write back into the files.

I don't understand this description. Could you tell us where you do what? Do you enter the data in tag panel where you have to save the modification explicidly?

It may be worthwhile to check whether you have set any mappings for this field in the options>Tags>Mapping.

and finally: could you supply a file that shows the conductor in

but not in MP3tag?

Hi Ohenkino - thanks for stepping in here, I read that document about field mappings, which is why I thought entering conductor info was going to be possible. I then ran into these issues - probably user generated !

Re Conductor field info disappearing:

In the attached screenshot I have a Conductor column - blank, but in the panel on the left the Conductor field is showing 'Andrew Davis'
If I type in the field in the right hand panel and then move off the field, the left hand panel is populated correctly, but the field in the righthand column reverts to blank.
I was hoping to be able to see a populated conductor field on the right hand panel for all works so I could apply some actions to populate it.
I checked the mappings and I only have the standard ones set -i.e. ones that I didn't enter. None refer to Conductor.
I'll come back to you with a file re MM and MusicBee.
Thanks
Chris

What is the conductor-field-definition in the tagpanel and what is it in the column?

Hi Poster

Here's the column definition - how do I get to show the same thing for the tag panel?
The odd thing is that when I type in the Conductor Column it does update the Conductor info in the tag panel, but then goes blank. So it is populating the correct field in the tag panel..?
Thanks for your help

Here's the screenshot from MusicBee:

and here's MP3Tag after it updates:

I didn't notice this before - but MP3Tag has updated the tag panel info, but still noting in the column.
This must be related to the same thing I'm not doing right as in either case the Tag column remains blank but the tag panel on the left is updated..
Thanks
Chris

OK - I found how to view the Tag Panel Info...
this what I have..

If you want to see the values of the CONDUCTOR field then you have to fill "Value" with %conductor%.
That, what you enter in the column is then written to the field that you specified - in this case %conductor% again.

Amazing ! Thank you - that worked !
