Cover-photo is in the folder with the music - but not put into tag-structure

Hi, I have a file structure \genre\artist\album-name\name of the music-file and one (or perhaps two) picture in the upper directory containing the cover-photo.

I a big file-structure (all CD's I bought over many years when CDs were still the way to go).

I would like to get the photos tagged on every file in each directory. If there is more than one, perhaps getting a question? I find a lot of ideas on renaming files, bur none that connects all files in a directory to the same cover.

Does that mean that the picture files are one folder-level above the music files?

Try an action of the type "Import cover from file"
Format string: ..\*.jpg
for the first picture file in a folder 1 up from the current file.
or
Format string: *.jpg
to get the first picture file from the folder where the audio file is.

You don't get a query while an action is running.

Did you named the photos like "Front" or "Back" or something like that?
Maybe you could use that fixed part of the coverfilename to identify what the cover contains?

As @ohrenkino already wrote, there is no question per cover or anything like that. You need to find a common filename part that you could use.

I would do that in steps and first get all the covers where the case is clear.
Then it would be worthwhile to see where covers are still missing and get those done.
And in the end I would have a look at the dimensions of the covers and then get better one for those that are too small.
I think it is an illusion to get everything right with just one command.

I got enough input in these answers to find a way, so thx a lot.

I have a .png and a .jpg file in many of the folders; the *.png being the preferred one,

I made an action to "import" these first (as front cover); then a second action to import *.jpg - but not overwriting existing front covers.
Seems to be like 90% good - way better than I holed for.
