While the toolbar scaling option is useful, I constantly find myself clicking the wrong button — most of the times Move to... instead of Change directory... because the icons are pretty similar. I know it has come up from time to time in different forms, but please consider implementing options to:
Have toolbar buttons also display labels. Separate options for "icons only", "icons and labels", or "labels only" would be even better!
Add/Remove/Move buttons or groups of buttons.
Somewhat related but lower priority:
Include icons created at the proper scaled up toolbar dimensions (or scalable vector ones) instead of scaling the small icons up, the blurry ones prevent me from using the scaled up toolbar;
Provide alternative icon packs to be used on the toolbar buttons (e.g. Fluent UI icons from Microsoft). I would declare myself happy with a simpler implementation that would load custom icons provided by the user in the configuration folder to replace the built-in ones (and with certain file names, e.g. save-100%.[png|svg], save-125%.[png|svg], ..., remove-tag-100%.[png|svg], remove-tag-125%.[png|svg] etc.).
Thank you for your hard work and for a great piece of sofware!
Those are not labels, those are tooltips and present multiple accessibility problems because they only appear on mouse over and after a delay, whereas labels are part of the button and are visible all the time, just like the word ”Reply” on the forum reply button here.
Sure, you don't have to like the same things I or anybody else does. That's why I was proposing the solution of user provided icons, so I can use whatever icons I like, instead of the default ones. And my request is not based primarily on esthetics, which would be a never ending discussion, but on usability: some of the provided icons are so similar that I constantly click the wrong one in a hurry, because it would be counterproductive to pause and wait for the tooltip each and every time I want to click something in the toolbar...
I'm not even sure if you are trying to say I'm lying or something else... What can I tell you? I'm not using the software frequently enough to remember where each button is and does, so labels would be really helpful to me. As would be the option to keep only the 2-3 buttons I normally use and hide the rest. But I will probably be better off by remembering the CTRL+D shortcut and just ignore the toolbar...
A little bit late on this, but an option to arrange the toolbar would be defintively great!
On my side, I barely use 5 buttons, but I would love to only have those 5 buttons in the toolbar. Plus, when you’re working with narrow window (split screen for instance), the button you are looking for may be not visible.
By the way, congrats to Florian for this software I’m using for the last decade.
