That doesn't answer the posters question; it's not a matter of custom genres. There are no default genres (using 3.28) at all! I added "Rock" myself for the song.

Please check the definition for your Genre input in the tag panel as described in the linked thread.
Make sure that you have not ticked
"Show only user-defined genres"

Oh, yes, sorry: you also have to untick the "Prefer values ...". Then you see the whole list of predefined genres.
