Drag & Drop bug in mp3tag v3.32 Windows 10

Hi

Before installing v3.32 I used to be able to drag and drop a list of mp3s from mp3tag to any folder.

In v3.32 when I drag & drop, shortcuts are created to the mp3 files.

Is this a new feature or a bug?

Thanks

Leo

Can you check if pressing Ctrl changes the operation to Copy and pressing Shift changes it to Move?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes they both work. So in future, I will have to use the Shift key to move files?

For the time being, yes.

Making the shortcut action the default seems like the least intuitive choice, though. I’ll look into this again and see whether I can adjust the behaviour so it only supports copy and move, like it did before I re-implemented everything.

OK, thanks for explanation and help.

Hi, I would really like that option to come back as well. I've already accidentally copied shortcuts several times without noticing.

Thanks for your feedback! I'll most likely release a beta version sometime next week and will change it so that it only supports copy and move, like it did before.

Great news! Thanks…..

I just released Mp3tag v3.32a and changed the supported operations when performing drag and drop from the File List to moving and copying files, like it did before.

Hi. Drag and drop worked with Explorer, but stopped working in programs. Now I can't drag a track into iTunes; a stop sign appears.

Thanks for reporting! I hadn't tested iTunes, which requires the link drop operation to be offered by the source application.

I've now found a way to indicate a preferred drop operation, which I've set to MOVE with Mp3tag v3.32c.

I finally installed 3.32d to stop myself from copying shortcuts by mistake when I drag files from mp3tag to explorer. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

But the old behaviour isn’t back.

Before 3.32 you could mark multiple tracks in mp3tag and then drag’n’drop them to network shares in explorer and it would copy, not move, and leave the original file(s) intact.

It would be nice if the old behaviour was restored, or at least an option to always copy, never move.

I spent the good part of the day trying to recreate the behaviour, unfortunately without success.

I made a note to maybe customise the preferred drag and drop action (copy vs. move). For now, copying is possible by holding the Ctrl key down.
