This is the most important feature request for me:
Often I change items in id3v1 and 2 tag and then I change long names in id3v1 tag only*. I must open Setting/Options and unmark id3v2 tag for read/write/remove. Then I must re-read all files and it's not all, when it's done, I must open other folder without mp3 files and re-enable id3v2 tag options because all changes would be lost (if it would be done before I close changed mp3s). And - sometimes I may forget to restore/re-enable id3v2 tags and I may save just id3v1 tags for future songs.
It's very annoying, "danger" and inconvenient.

Therefore I suggest this:
Drop-down menu (next to buttons) with option to use these id3 tags (read-show/write/remove) with these entries:
- all tags/versions
- ID3v1 only
- ID3v2 only
- APE only
After one entry would be chosen, all files should be re-read automatically.
Alternative realization: show 3 toolbar buttons [v1], [v2] and [A] - when button would be pressed all options (read-show/write/remove) would be enabled, if not, disabled. But I prefer first solution.
It would be very easy to use and very, very useful.
This is the only "critical" thing in Mp3Tag, I hope not for long, then it would be perfect.
