Edit ID3 v1 and v2 seperately

This is likely more of a feature request than a support issue...

I have some mp3s of Japanese music which I am tagging with kanji (ID3v2.4), but use an mp3 player as well as a streaming program that can only read ID3v1. Is any way to edit both the v1 and v2 tags independently of each other without having to continuously change which type mp3tag writes to in the options?

If there isn't, then could such a feature be considered for a future version?

There isn't an other option than the one you already pointed out and IIRC, Florian said he does not plan to add support for independent editing of tag types and versions.
