Export playlist as m3u8

Hello!
I'd like to introduce something that it is annoying to me.
I want to write my playlists in m3u8 files.
So I chose it on preferences:

After saving the preferences, I export a playlist. It is assuming the name by default.
02
It I open the directory, you can see that the program isn't assuming the m3u8 format. It is still on m3u.

I have to manually choose the format to m3u8 in order to save the playlist on the desired format.

My question, is it possible to solve this?
Thank you very much for your hard work. MP3TAG is awesome.
Best regards!

Have you checked whether you get the UTF-8 format when you choose m3u8 and only the file selection filter is not quite accurate?

I just tested:
If you call Ctrl-P or File>Playlist (Selected files) you get as default name what you have set in the Options>Playlist.
If you click on the ... and open the dialogue to set a filename for the playlist, you can set a new name and a new type which is determined by the extension.
The file type selector in the set file name dialogue serves as filter for the displayed files. The file type itself is always determined by the extension set in the file name.

Hi.
Maybe I'm not explaining myself correctly.
My issue, and the reason for my post, is that my default name is set to, for example, playlist.m3u8 and when I click on the ... , because I want to overwrite a pre-existing file, despite my default being m3u8, the program only shows the m3u files and the file selector is always on m3u, no matter what I chose as default file format.
On this image, (1) is my default file name and type, and Mp3tag always assumes file type m3u (2) and only shows my pre-existing m3u files (3)

My question is if is it possible to assume the file type according to my default playlist file type, like the following picture, where (1) would be the default type (taken from Configuration) to show all files present with that extension, because I want to rewrite the file #170 27-11-2024 alinhamento.m3u8

Simplifying: I'd like Mp3tag to show files on folder with the same extension set on Configurations. If m3u, show m3u files, if set as m3u8, show m3u8 files.

Thank you for your time.
Best regards

I think I got that.
I then tested if the filter settings in the file name dialogue had any effect on the generated playlist encoding and my result was: no.
The playlist encoding is determined by the set extension.
You are right that it may be more comfortable to see filetypes that correspond to the extension set in the options but so far no bad surprises happen to the playlist.
You can switch between display filters in the Windows file dialogue. But that still does not change the generated encoding.
Only if you delete the extension from the filename then the extension from the filetype filter is taken.
I think this is more a feature request than a bug.

Thank you and I'm sorry, in my mind, I saw it as a bug, the file type not showing as the chosen in Configurations.
Yes, the file itself is fine, no bad surprises on the playlist.
Should I ask for this change in the features request area?
Once again, thank you very much for your time.
Best!

I think you can edit the title and its category and move it to the General discussion section which is intended for feature ideas.

I will, thank you!
All the best!
