Export to XML?

#1

I'm sure there's a way to do it, but I'm having a tough time without an English help file.

I was hoping to be able to do a report like this:

  <artist>Cure</artist>
  <title>Pornography</title>
  <year>1982</year>
  <genre>Gothic</genre>
  <track id=01>One Hundred Years</track>
  <track id=02>A Short Term Effect</track>
  <track id=03>The Hanging Garden</track>
  <track id=04>Siamese Twins</track>
  <track id=05>The Figurehead</track>
  <track id=06>A Strange Day</track>
  <track id=07>Cold</track>
  <track id=08>Pornography</track>

Is this possible?

Yes, this is possible. Simply create a new export configuration at Options, Export and enter the following text.

[EXPORTHEADER]
HEADERLINE01=<album id=%k>
HEADERLINE02=  <artist>%i</artist>
HEADERLINE03=  <title>%a</title>
HEADERLINE04=  <year>%j</year>
HEADERLINE05=  <genre>%g</genre>

[EXPORTRECORD]
RECORDLINE01=  <track id=%n>%t</track>

[EXPORTFOOTER]
FOOTERLINE01=</album>

[EXPORTSORT]
SORT=9

[EXPORTEXTENSION]
EXTENSION=xml

Please also make sure, that you the option No double data records is enabled.

This solution assumes that the Album ID is stored in the comment field. If you are interested in a english overview of all placeholders available for the export, please have a look at this topic at the Hydogenaudio Forums.

Hope that helps!

With best regards,
~ Florian

Thank you for the response florian. When I try it, I get the following error:

File "C:Documents and SettingsbeakerApplication DataMp3tagexportxml.mte" could not be opened.

Have I done something wrong?

It seems, that Mp3tag has some problems with trailing spaces at the lines of export configuations, so I've sent you an email with the mte-file attached.

Simply copy the content of the file to the configuration at Options, Export.

Thanks again florian. Email received.

The only change I had to make was to quotation marks around the value of the id eg:

Great application!
