Exporting The Tag - Filename List

Is there a way of exporting the Tag - Filename list I have created in MP3TAG. Unfortunately this year my computer has been upset by Microsoft updating my system for me twice and I have had to reset the operating system and lost some of my MP3TAG data.

I learned a long time ago to make a backup copy of my actions but cant seem to find where the Tag - Filename data is stored (if in fact it is).

The configuration data can be found in the configuration folder, accessible with File>Open configuration folder.
Also, look for the file mp3tag.cfg.

If you alsways use the same patterns, then corresponding actions may be easier to save in a backup.
Try actions of the type "Format value" for _FILENAME - they work just like the convert function yet without the interactive dialogues and previews.

Thank you ohrenkino.

I found the configuration data in the configuration folder. I looked at the data through a text reader but couldn't make head nor tail of the information.
The mp3tag.cfg file wasn't helpful either.
I have got several actions but have never done one with "Format value" for _FILENAME

In my Tag-Filename list i have (amongst others) this example,

C:\Users\User\Desktop\Classic FM Master\%albumartist%\%albumartist% - %year% - %album%\%discnumber%-%track% - %title% - %artist%

How do I convert that to your suggestion which by the way sounds good.

Sorry to be a nuisance but the grey hair clouds my brain sometimes :grinning:

Use the same string

in the action of the type "Format value" for the field _FILENAME.
Try it on a sample file first.

You cannot get individual Convert strings from a list - you would have to use the whole old file mp3tag.cfg and replace the new one.

Thanks. That worked.

Didn't understand your last paragraph though

If you want to get your old strings for Convert>Tag-FIlename back, then you have to look for the old mp3tag.cfg file and overwrite with it the new mp3tag.cfg file.
But I would not do that now any more as you have not got an action.

Okay I will heed your advice.

Thanks for your help with this

To retrieve your old format strings in plain text format, you might take a look at my response in this thread:
