I found this post: Allow "favorite directory" to be a set of directories which addresses the same question I have; however, when I create the plain txt file with the two directories I want read listed, it only reads the top entry. Is there a way to insert both directories into the ‘favorite directory’ dialog box option with a separator? If the txt file method is the only way to load both directories, is there a format for the txt file or something specific for the file? I listed each on separate lines. Thanks for any help…
It would have been easier, if you had shown us the text file with name, extension and contents.
I just tried it an all the referenced folders are loaded.
I used an absolute path.
Contents of my file:
C:\Users\Ohrenkino\Music\Ambient Diary.One - 2024
C:\Users\Ohrenkino\Music\Ambient Diary.Two - 1998
What does Diary. One - 2024 and 1998 mean? What I had was a simple entry:
Drive:\Directory Name
Drive\Directory Name
Relative to the above entry, can you advise specifically what should be the correct file syntax?
Note: It does read the first drive but not the second.
if this is an accurate representation then the second entry is missing the colon to separate the drive.
It is in the original file. I typed it incorrectly here.
Drive:\Directory Name
Drive:\Directory Name
The name of the file is Directory.m3u and the contents of both are all .mp3 files. When I drag it into the app, it reads only the first directory.
Again, what is the syntax that is required to make it read both directories unattended (one drag operation)?
I already supplied the contents of a sample file which you would only have to adapt to your local environment. The 2 entries in my file load 2 separate folders, one with the title "Ambient Diary. One - 2024" and one "Ambient Diary. Two - 1998".
So now you would have to check whether the paths that you described in your file really exist or what could be special about one of the paths so that it cannot be found. E.g. non-ASCII characters my sometimes be a problem.
But for a deeper analysis, the real data and not the
one would be required.
If you change the second line to another directory containing audio files, does it still not work? To exclude drive issues, use the same drive as in the first line.
Also, is the second line a parent directory? If so, you need to tick "Subdirectories" in Options > Directories.
Appreciate your help, indeed. These are two separate drives. For some inexplicable reason, it only reads the first entry in the file I created. I’ve been using it in ‘standard’ mode for years but thought there was a way to accomplish this without the extra step of adding after the fact so it would be unattended. Put another way, inserting a delimiter such as a semicolon between the drives in the favorites entry in the options dialog.
No worries. Laziness/convenience on my part. Dragging into the app is no different than adding anyway.
What would my entries
look like if you replace the individual parts of my path with the parts of your path?
Thanks, truly. But this is the same as just adding in the directory after the Favorites Directory loads. No problem. If there is no way to add it into ‘Favorites’ in the Options menu, then it is a manual attended process and therefore a moot point; or, six one way - half a dozen the other.
