Hi everyone,
When using the "Tag - Filename" feature (or actions that rename files based on tags), Mp3tag shows this dialog when multiple files would end up with the same name:
ight now the only option is to click OK and then manually deal with all the duplicates afterward, which is very time-consuming with large libraries.
Suggestion:
It would be extremely helpful if this dialog had two additional buttons for the conflicting files:
-
Move to Duplicates folder Moves the current conflicting file(s) to a new subfolder (e.g., "Duplicates" or "_duplicates") inside the current directory (or a user-defined folder). This keeps the original file safe while letting the renaming process continue.
-
Delete to Recycle Bin / Trash Sends the conflicting file(s) directly to the system Recycle Bin (or Trash on macOS) instead of permanently deleting them. This is much safer and faster than having to hunt down the duplicates later.
Bonus (if possible):
- A checkbox like "Apply this choice to all remaining conflicts" would make it even faster when processing hundreds of duplicates.
This small addition would save an enormous amount of time when cleaning and organizing big music collections.
