Mp3tag's integration with Quick Look is very helpful for fast previews of files being tagged, but there is one point of friction compared to using it in Finder, the focus. In Finder if I have a list of files and activate Quick Look, I can still use the arrow keys to navigate the files and Quick Look will automatically change the preview being displayed or played as the file selection changes in Finder. Would it be possible to add this feature to Mp3tag's file list? It saves the steps of opening and closing Quick Look between changing each file selection, which really helps when working with a large number of files that may require previews to identify.
I think it's already possible if you focus the file list again while keeping Quick Look open.
You're right! I never realized that. Thanks for the tip. I still think it would be less friction and more consistent with Quick Look behavior elsewhere in the OS if opening Quick Look didn't grab focus in the first place. Not a huge issue either way, especially with that reasonable work-a-round, but I do think it would be nice bit of polish for the feature in Mp3tag if you're open to changing it. Either way, thanks for your time.
Yes, absolutely. I already made a note on my internal wish list to investigate on how to steal the focus back after opening Quick Look.
I think I found a way and have just released Mp3tag for Mac v1.9.6.
From the changelog:
After opening Quick Look with the space bar, you can now navigate to the previous or next file using the up and down arrow keys without needing to refocus the file list.
It is working perfectly. Thanks!
