Getting started in clean up names

I have 5 files of about 500 tracks each where most of the files are copies, Some files have many extensions like 1_2.m4a, 1.m4a, mp3, m4a; no idea how this happened.

Some have numbers in front, like 3-11, 05, etc. and LP that I added.

Will the program delete all the extra stuff and leave me with only the track names? And then can it delete duplicates, or is another program required?

It tried using it but it wasn't real clear. I would try the 14 days trial and if it works than buy the base one.

Another though could I find someone to do this for me for a fee?

Thanks in advanced.

I don't think that Mp3tag is the right tool for you if you're looking for an automated solution. It doesn't remove extra stuff and it also doesn't delete duplicates.

However, if the files already have complete metadata, like artist, album, title, track#, Mp3tag can rename the files based on the metadata, i.e., remove the extra stuff by creating new filenames.
