How can I shift down all tags?

Hi,

I have an album with 26 songs, where data for song 2 is in song 1, data for song 3 is in song 2, and so on, until song 26 where there is erroneous data.

So, I'd like to move/copy all the fields from song 25 to song 26, and then song 24 to 25, etc, until data for song 1.

Is there a way to automate that?

Thanks

It will not be purely automatic ...
Make sure that the sequence of files is correct.
Select as source files those where there is the correct data in the wrong files.
From the context menu of the files list select "Cut tags".
Now select the target files, all at once.
From the context menu of the files list select "Paste tags".
This inserts the data from the special clipboard into the tags of the selected files in the same sequence.
You should take care that the number of source files and target files matches.

There is no automation, you have to do it manually.

Step1: Select this block of tracks (source files) ...
Song 01 with Data for 02
Song 02 with Data for 03
Song 03 with Data for 04
...
Song 23 with Data for 24
Song 24 with Data for 25
Song 25 with Data for 26

Step2: Put data to Mp3tag Clipboard ...
... press [Ctrl+C] to copy ... or ... [Ctrl+X] to cut
... or open the context menu and select 'Tag Copy' ... or ... 'Tag Cut'

Step 3: Select this block of tracks (target files) ...
Song 02
Song 03
Song 04
...
Song 24
Song 25
Song 26

Step 4: Get data from Mp3tag Clipboard ...
... press [Ctrl+V] to paste
... or open the context menu and select 'Tag Paste'

Step 5: Edit Song 01 with correct data.

Wow, it was as simple as cut and paste -That simple! Thank you very much for the quick reply. I wasn't necessary looking for automation as much as do it fast, but it could not have been simpler.

All I needed to do afterward was re-number the songs (with the auto-numbering wizard) and then rename them.

Thanks again.
