How should I configure MP3tag for Flac files?

Hello, apologies if this has already been covered - I haven't been able to find a post which fills all the gaps in my (very limited) understanding.

I've been using MP3tag to tag my FLAC files, but I've just read on the FLAC site that they do not recommend putting ID3 tags in FLAC files: "But you should not expect any tags beside FLAC tags to be supported in applications; some implementations may not even be able to decode a FLAC file with ID3 tags."

I'm worried that I've been inadvertently inserting ID3 tags because I haven't configured the ID3 options correctly in MP3tag. So my questions are:

  • When tagging flac files, should I make sure that the Write ID3v1 and Write ID3v2 boxes are unchecked in MP3tag ID3 options?

  • If I have already inserted ID3 tags in this way, should I remove them and if so what steps do I need to take to rectify the situation?

  • Is there any other configuration I should be aware of when tagging Flac files?

Mp3tag doesn't write ID3v1/ID3v2 tags to FLAC files but uses the recommended Vorbis Comments instead :slight_smile:

Great app by the way. I'm still pretty new to it, but finding it very useable and reliable so far.
