i'm still confused about grouping actions. I know how to create an action but not how to combine multiple actions.
I have three actions I want to combine
remove underlines in the file names.
Case conversions
Remove everything after brackets
each of these actions work when I run them individually. My question is, how do I create an single action group that will run all three actions (#1,#2, #3).
ps. I've read a bunch of post and none of them seems clear to me. I need a bit of hand holding on this one issue. TIA.
If you already have the single actions you want to combine to a group, it is quite simple.
Go to: Actions -> Actions or use ALT-6
Click on the new icon .
Write a name for the action group - > o.k.
Click on the new icon to define your first single actions. -> o.k.
Click again on the new icon to define your second single action. ->
and so on.
Click o.k. to save your action group
The issue is Its only showing the pre-define action group. I want to be able to use the action I've already created as per the example given in my post. The only actions that are showing are the default quick actions. I don't want to use those I want to use the actions I've already created. Other than re-creating them from scratch how do I combine them?
If you have created your actions with Actions -> Actions instead of Actions -> Quick you already have defined action groups, probably containing only 1 action per group but anyway it's a group. You cannot combine existing action groups to a another new action group. You have to create this new action group from scratch. This should not be a problem because you already know from your existing ones how to define them.
The only way to to execute existing action groups in combination is to enable the checkboxes and click "Apply".
Mp3Tag differentiates between “Quick Actions” and “Actions” in the menu for actions. "Quick Actions" are intended for actions that are likely to only be needed once and are not permanently saved for recall. Actions created via the Actions -> Actions menu are inherently action groups, even if the content is limited to just 1 action. You can also see this if you look at the heading of the window, it says "Action Groups."
So far I have assumed that you have defined your 3 actions as separate action groups via Actions -> Actions. Then they should also appear there with the checkbox presented. It's best to give us a screenshot of this window.
If you only used Actions -> Quick, you haven't saved anything at all for permanent repeated use.
