How to import old settings

restore settings

i have an old settings file that i created many years ago with some variables
is this still the process to import the settings to a new install?

Just use the File -> "Open configuration folder" menu in your current Mp3tag.

There you would have to extract the content of Mp3tagSettings.zip to the configuration folder of Mp3tag.

Have a look at the documentation:

thnaks I assume its to the root folder of mp3 tag here and the extracted files should not be within the mp3tag settings folder?

ive just done this and dont see my old configs
howeever these were from 2019 so wonder whether they will import to the latest 64bit version?

The file Mp3tagSettings.zip contains at least 2 folders
\data
\export

You need to overwrite your existing Mp3tag folders
\data
\export
in your Mp3tag configuration folder with the content of the ZIP-Archive to restore all settings, Actions, columns, panel-settings and so on.

If you only need your previous Actions, you could also restore only the subfolder
\data\actions
from the Mp3tagSettings.zip archive to the same name folder.
C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Mp3tag\data\actions

No. Open the configuration folder with File>Open configuration folder.
This assumption also means that you did not have a look at the documentation, as it clearly mentions the function:

Backup and Restore Configuration

To backup your configuration settings, please choose File → Save configuration.

To restore the backup, unzip the backup archive to the folder that opens when you choose File → Open configuration folder. Close Mp3tag before copying any files to ensure that all files can be written.
