How to move complete contents of a folder into separate genre folders

I have a tremendous amount of folders (usually with just an album). I would like to just organize them in folders by genre without changing folder name and moving the entire folder and its contents.. Unchanged. End result would be a folder called "Rock" with all the rock genre albums moved into it.. and whatever other genres i have. I prefer to do it without depending on any tags but the genre so that i could listen and find what i like easily.. In the long run i would look at organized naming of files/folders etc while eliminating all the stuff i don't really care for... But that is for another time. I am very new to mp3 tag..

Edit 1- I have gotten this far.. l:\mp3tag%genre%
looking for something like this I:\mp3tag%genre%%existing foldername%%existing filename%
but that wouldn't move any extra files that existed automatically and i am not sure if something like those variables are an option?

Edit 2- I can use mp3 tagnrename to sort folders by genre and then move them to subfolders, so if this is not easily accomplished with mp3tag then maybe i should use that instead? Mp3Tag looks amazing with all the possibilities, so i do want to learn to use it better as i pare the collection down.. It is overwhelming now.. and i am happy to just discover new bands etc by choosing genre's i like..

You can rename the current folder anyway you like, including the genre.
Please note, that unless you filter the files e.g. the first file of an album and you have different genres in an album, then the last file will win.
If you rename each file (instead of the whole folder), then you will probably end up with empty source folders.

I would rely on the tags and a decent player to group files by genre.

What will you do in the case of compilation albums that perhaps have several different genres? Would you split the albums across the different genre folders?

In the end the folders are only relevant for storage purposes anyhow. Most decent players and media managers will create their own library management.

I will move the various artists into a separate folder and do them later, but in theory, if the genre was all the same in the folder(it shouldn't matter if Various or Single artist) couldn't the entire folder be moved just the same to a genre folder?

Again, this is just to deal with a bulk of folders with mostly albums.. Long term, i would clean up the tags on the stuff i like and do it right.
