HTML symbols looking like a squares on Mac

I'm using both ▸ and ‿ in a project I'm working on and it looks fine on Windows but on my Mac, they show up as squares, similar to this one: ⃞. I can copy the line into Sublime or Chrome and it looks fine, but it always looks like squares within Mp3tag on my Mac. No problem with ñ and similar.

I assume it's some kind of missing font in Mp3tag/Wine? But how do I solve it?

It's probably due to the current Wine dialog text font not supporting those characters.

You can open Wine and at "Wine > Configuration > Desktop Integration" you can change the dialog text font to Arial Unicode MS.

I was using the bundle from this site and apparently the settings makes it use Tahoma:

"MS Shell Dlg"="Tahoma"
"MS Shell Dlg 2"="Tahoma"

"MS Shell Dlg"="Arial Unicode MS"
"MS Shell Dlg 2"="Arial Unicode MS"

Change it in ~/Library/Application Support/de.mp3tag.Mp3tag_xxxxxx/system.reg

You can also change the font size here by increasing LogPixels in the same file:

"LogPixels"=dword:00000060
"LogPixels"=dword:00000080

This solved my main issues but there are still other problems such as not being able to use "cmd + c" and TextExpander. So I switched over to Crossover and navigated to the following place in regedit to change the font:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes]

"MS Shell Dlg"="Arial Unicode MS"
"MS Shell Dlg 2"="Arial Unicode MS"

Not ideal to be using Crossover but it seems to be working now so I'm happy.
