I don't get how to import filename data from a text file

Currently I'd have to select a line

for example, copy then paste it onto the filename tab, is there anything i can do to make this process faster?

You cannot modify the filename directly, as it also serves as an identifier for a different use case of the text import.
So, import the data for the filename into a user-defined field first, e.g. %new_filename%
Then use an action of the type "Format value" for _FILENAME
Format string: %new_filename%
You can now delete the user-defined field (also, if you like, with an action).
