ID3v2.4 tag placement

I have an older model mp3 player in my truck, and it can't handle ID3v2 tags, so I had to use ID3v1. I was reading how with ID3v2.4, the standard supports putting the tag at the end of the file again instead of the beginning, which I'm sure is what is causing my player to give an error. Is it possible to have mp3tag put a v2.4 tag at the end of the file instead of the beginning?

No, this is not possible and I'm sure that it won't solve your problem. I'm not aware of any popular software or hardware that supports ID3v2.4 tags at the end of files.
