Import Cover Art: File cannot be accessed

getting this error message when batch editing cover art:

Import cover from file "%artist% %title%.jpg" (Front Cover): File \\?\D:\Music\Beck\Midnite Vultures\Beck Hollywood Freaks.jpg cannot be accessed.

anyone else getting this message?

No.
I don't have that path.
You would have to check whether a file with the name

really exists.
Copy that path and enter it in the windows explorer address bar and see if a file opens.

I'm sorry, I should have mentioned my system. I am using a microsoft surface pro. It runs windows and it has expandable storage. So i use a sd card and that is where i have my music library. My problem, i think, is that after i use the DisCoverArt tool ( which seems to work fine) i then use the "action" item i created "save cover art" and that is when i get the "cannot access file" error. I can't tell if its a mp3tag/ discoverart problem or windows issue. I've set the drive with all the relevent permissions but i still get the error. Also, no problem usong the manual "tagsource" " discog" " coverart" process in mp3tag. That works fine.

Thanks for your reply. Its all much appreciated!

The test would still be similar:
Can you navigate from the source device to the path

in the Windows Explorer?

Yeah, the path exists. I can definitely access all of my music folders using file explorer.

As you said that you

what was the result of the test

your correct i got an error message

this is a windows issue than?

It means that a file with that name does not exist.
I would now navigate to that folder and compare the filenames of the jpg-files with the naming pattern that you have used to import the file.

Thanks for your help. I thought that I had converted the tags as directed by disCoverArt. I guess I must have made a mistake. Thank You!

if there is only 1 picture file in each folder, then you could use
Format string *.jpg

some of the folders don't have any cover art. I have 9331 files and about 6000 don't have any art

The message - did that appear when you addressed folders without picture file?
I am a little puzzled.

yeah, i added a new column "cover". sorted so the empty "cover" cells were at the top. selected an album (actually about 300 songs at first but then just 1 album to test after i started to get the error messages) right clicked and selected the batch tool i made for DisCoverArt. I ran ok. When it was done I selected the action menu item i made to "save coverart". And that is when the error messages popped up.

And have you checked whether the tool actually created a picture file?
Otherwise, if the file does not exist, then you will get the error message.

You are absolutely correct. I spent all afternoon testing the path, checking libraty items and looking at the tools and action items i made and that is the conclusion I have come to also. There is no jpg in the folder after i execute the tool. I've tried to make sure that i created them as DisCoverArt has directed but , no jpg in the folder after tool is run.
Why wouldn't the tool have downloaded the cover art. It looks like its running ok. No error messages during or atbend of running. Here is the tool parameters: "%artist%" "%title%" discogs.com 0 1 300 300 jpg 1 1

I could think of problems with the data in the referenced fields (e.g. name and/or title does not exist at discogs, resolution cannot be found).
But any further questions regarding the functions of the utillity would have to be asked to the developer of that utility.

yeah, i understand. Thanks for helping me figure out the formatting stuff. much appreciated!
