I the past if I worked on my list of files, then I had to close the app and reopen it later, all files that I initially added to the list remained the same and also they were sorted in the same order. Recently I added my whole library, to work on some files, and after closing and reopening the app, the list contained much less files and they were sorted in a different order (not based on the same column that I used initially.
Why is this happening, any idea?
The status bar at the bottom shows how many files are loaded and how many are displayed. Check if there are 2 numbers.
If there are, it is most likely that you are using a filter.
F3 toggles the filter.
Which version of Mp3tag are you using?
The latest one on Windows
I have no filters applied
Could you tell us which files you do not find in the list anymore?
What do they have in common?
What is the difference to files that you still see?
I don't think it is very difficult to understand.
- I empty the list by deleting everything
- I populate the list by dragging and dropping a few of my music folders on top of the app
- The app shows more than 5000 files in the list.
- I close the app and later on reopen it. After this the list show 189 files
I have no idea what files are not displayed and what they have in common. But if I repeat the exercise other files appear and another number of files (like for example 958) appear.
One other note .... I have the portable installation, but I don't think it matters
Check Files>Options>Directories (tab)
This will show your default favorite and artwork directories. There is also a drop-down selector to choose on startup to open from this favorite, the last Active Directory, or even an empty list. What have you selected there?
Your suggestion worked. I guess my problem was that I was adding folders by drag and drop
The trick with the favorite folder worked every time I opened the app
