Local / Global Custom List Values Feature Request

I've recently endeavored to indoctrinate a few more friends into MP3TAG. I personally use a number of custom fields when tagging & each of them has a list of values I imported using a simple txt file.

With my friends utilizing the same configuration files as me we have access to the same custom list values...until someone somewhere adds a new one. So I had a WILD thought. What if MP3TAG could link the custom list values to a txt file, or even a spreadsheet. Any changes made to that file would just appear in the list of values available in the drop downs.

In our case we'd use an outside app to sync or share those txt files or a google sheets spreadsheet & thus you could potentially have an updated list of values in real time across multiple devices. Currently we were thinking if you added a new value you could just export the values & share that file so the others can import it, thus updating the custom values but I can see that getting out of date fairly quickly.

From the documentation:

Custom List Values can also be imported from a text file, where each line denotes one value. Exporting the lists allows for creating backups or sharing custom list values.

You can export your custom list values too.
The problem will be that if you and your "few more friends" all modify your existing custom list at the same time, it will become pretty tricky to synchronize all changes into one list.

The only way out at the moment that I see is to create a portable installation in a cloud drive that can be accessed by all the participants.

Ok so a little update on the progress so far We did try the portable installation, unfortunately the main issue isn't even sharing the same configuration its repeatedly adding items to the lists. Is there an official way to make requests or do we just kind of drop them here?

I think the ability for custom values to be pulled from a spreadsheet, google sheet or plain text file would be the most ideal. Any changes made to the file would be updated in mp3tag which would save you from needing to re-import each time. Or using the fairly handy "shift+enter" combo

As i tag new files I've found that I am very often adding new values so any way to get those new entries into mp3tag faster would be appreciated. I currently keep all my custom values on a google sheet that is shared & depending on how many additions I have ill add those new values to MP3TAG via an imported txt file or the keyboard shortcut

For context

My current layout is alot of dual entry fields, one field would honestly be fine but the main fields are multiline which means they will take the full width of the panel, so only having one entry field means an empty space in the tag panel not to mention tagging multiple entries at a time takes a bit longer as I'd need to "cycle" through (move the contents of the Entry Field down to its respective tag)

If you use a shared portable installation, then any added item to any list would immediately be available to all the other users of that installation.
And yes, data maintainance is the laborious part.

I doubt that any proprietary format would be desirable.
Even now you can import data from e.g. the plain text file genres.ini. For all the others it would have to be a manual process.
