Yes, I'm aware of that and I've decided against automagically resolving this. because this would be a breaking change for users that rely on the original semantics of this field. A way to workaround this is to create a field mapping in Mp3tag at Options > Tags > Mapping. mac version still do not support tag mapping.

grouping field is different for mp3 and m4a in iTunes.

in mp3tag windows version, we have a setting to have different fields mapped based on filetype.

in Mac version we do not have it. The left fields editor in Mac is not able to apply grouping field for both mp3 and m4a at the same time.

Please add this feature ASAP.

So far i know from Years ago, you can edit Tags directly in iTunes to have the right Tags for iTunes.

if we edit everything in iTunes then we don’t need mp3tag

besides that logic, please roll up to original post, mp3tag in windows has mapping features to address this issue, we don’t have this feature in mac
