I have a a CD that is the sixth one of a set of six. I can find the the six CDs as one list on Music Brainz. What I haven’t figured out is how to get MP3tag to properly map the information. It seems that no matter what I choose in the left and right hand columns, the title (for example) always starts from track 1 of the first disk in the set. I’ve spent a fruitless hour trying many combinations. Please provide some detailed guidance.

You have to align the files in the list on the right with the titles in the list on the left using, e.g., the up and down arrow buttons next to the lists.
As a supplement to ohrenkino's post:
If the files on the right are already in the correct track order, you can select them all and move them down together to CD 6 using the arrow keys. You can also grab all the selected files with the mouse and drag them down, which takes some practice
This AniGif shows the possibilty to move an entire block of selected tracks with the mouse (clicking on the first track of the block and then with pressed Shift key the last track of the block).
And the possibility to move some other randomly selected tracks with the Move up and Move down buttons:
The little blue + character indicates where you "insert" the currently selected tracks.
Thank you all for the rapid response. I didn’t fully understand how to use the up/down buttons and the highlighting of the tracks. After reading the responses, I have gotten the proper fields to align.
