Missing tag information in mp3 and mp4 files in Windows Explorer

Dear Community,

I need help with a problem and I would be very grateful for any suggestions for solutions or information.

Problem Description:

When changing tags of mp3 files (or ogg files), the publisher is displayed in the file properties/details and in Windows Explorer, but no comments (picture 1).

When changing tags of m4a files, the publisher is not displayed in the file properties/details and in Windows Explorer, but the comments do (picture 2).

Both files are on the same internal hard drive and same directory.
To me it's weird and I don't understand it.

Could someone tell me why this is and have a solution?

Below is an example of each.
If you need further information please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

I found e.g. this thread with the search words "mp4 publisher"

I doubt that the windows explorer is a vlid testbench to check whether information is available in tags.

If you want to see where the data is in MP3tag, see the extended tags dialogue Alt-T

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have already seen this post and yes, this could be the same or similar problem.
However, there doesn't seem to be a final solution for this.

I discovered quite by chance that Windows Explorer doesn't display all the data or displays incorrect data.
I'm surprised that it's similar but the other way around with mp3 and m4a files.
And I'm even more surprised that meta data isn't displayed 1:1 like e. g. Publisher or Comment (in file) = Publisher or Comment (in Explorer).

Anyway, I shouldn't spend any more time for researching or filling my audio files with too much metadata,...Even though I would like it to be complete with all the information, but in the end it's probably a waste of time.

If anyone has found a good solution, I would still be grateful.

I would think that such problems arise from the choice of collection management tools.
And as I said: the Windows Explorer is definitely not the best.
Instead, try players like foobar2000 which also can deal with user-defined fields.

Also, check out the documentation just to see that every file format and tag standard has its own preferences.
That what you see as "Publisher" in your language would be "Herausgeber" in German - so an implementation that does not allow mappings would serve only parts of the world.
In fact, is represented by TPUB and @pub or a corresponding vorbis comment, depending on what kind of file you have.

Nobody will tell you how much time you have to invest in tagging your files but you yourself. But if you are not satisfied with the data that your player can show, then you have to spend some time and look for a better suited one.
