Modifying File/Folder Dates

Is there a way to change the file date through an action or some other means to a specific date found from an mp3 tag? If not, is there any chance the feature could be added or does anyone know of a tool that will do this?

My ultimate goal is to modify the mp3 file dates and the folder date (created and modified dates) to be the same as the date the album was released. Currently I'm storing the album release date in the date tag in the format of yyyy-mm-dd.

Hi,

This could be done with MediaMonkey and possibly with Flexible Renamer. You'll need to be able to script or get someone to write it for you. Another alternative would be to extract the relevant tag with mp3tag and use a command line script to call a "touch" like program to set the timestamp.

I think ultimately your plan will fail due to the timestamp being changed by certain programs/operations.
