Mp3tag 3.34 beta 8 - Multilanguage string issues

@Florian

I found some issues about GUI

Action menu

Case conversion is untranslated

Note: the string Action (Quick) seems a merge of two single strings (Action and Quick).

It’s better to avoid if you can to create a string merging other strings.
In Italian the strings can be male or female and only first letter of a strings is in uppercase (except own names).

For this Action (Quick) will be better if it’s a dedicate string.

In Tag Source menu the string Cover Art and Release ID are untranslated

In About window the string Credit, Donate, Support strings are untranslated

The strings highlighted seems the result of merging of some other single strings

It can create some problems with translation

Could be a good idea to have for these menu items dedicated strings (ex. Discogs – Artista + album, etc) to separate service from field and for field list only first is in uppercase.

On left side window

Artista Album and Numero Disco are displayed not right (second word in uppercase).

Artista album exist as string (_M_STR_ALBUMARTIST)

Numero disco exist as string (_C_WIZARD_TRACKS_DISCNUMBER)

The window caption title here could be Mp3tag – Options or Options.

The tag names in the list shouldn’t contain & character.

WIf the user change UI language at next app run some string on left side panel remain didn’t change.

See UI changed from Italian to English at next run:
Top menu is in English.
Column name are in English.
Some field on left side panel are in Italian.

Thanks.

@Florian

I checked that in new beta 9 Italian language file is not updated (strings untranslated - strings translated that need revision).

In teh UI there some strings untranslated and not included in language file that seems remain unfixed.

The issues about strings showed in not right mode seems unfixed.

Have you a schedule date to fix these issues?

Thanks.

I check that also in final version some issues are in place.

“Case Conversion” is untranbslated

“Cover Art” is untranslated.

Is not fix

“Artista Album” and “Numero Disco”
that should be
“Artista labum” and “Numero disco”.

Thanks.

Same issue here

In Italian only first letter of a period is in uppercase.

The “&” accelarator is not useful here.

AFAIK entries in the menus for web sources and action reflect the file names of the additional files.
I doubt that locally renamed copies of the files will be issued.

should probably be "Artista album"

The "&" character here is used to indicate shortcut characters. Why would these not function when using a different language for the display?

@MotleyG

In this context is just a list a value (are not menu items).

The & accelerator is used only in text string definition for menu to define the letter for accelerator.

It also works for other UI objects like input fields in a dialogue. In the tag panel you can use a key combination to jump directly to a field for which the label has an & in the name by pressing Alt plus the letter preceeded by &.
Co&mmento could be accessed directly with Alt-M

Can have differenbt use.
In the list of options ihas no sense to use accelerator.

You are right - in the list it does not serve as a shortcut but it shows the labels for the fields and make it easier in this overview to set a unique shortcut letter.
The list depends on the fields that the user sets for the tag panel - so the contents could vary.

The keyboard shortcut indicators have been in use in mp3tag for a very long time and has nothing to do with translations or language files. These are inserted with a purpose and do not need to be removed.

In a list of values is a non sense to use accelerator

The list shows accurately the labels for the elements in the tag panel. And for the labels it makes sense to see the shortcut key.
For me the list looks like this:

As it depends a lot of the the user-defined settings, I doubt that this will be changed.
