MP3tag Displays Double CD/Track Count for Hybrid SACDs

When I try to sync metadata from MusicBrainz for hybrid SACDs (containing both CD and SACD layers), MP3tag displays an incorrect number of CDs and tracks, effectively doubling the actual count. Tagging the files in this state results in messed up metadata. Does anyone know how to configure MP3tag to correctly handle these multi-layer discs, or suggest a workaround?

Could you supply a link to such a release?
I am not quite sure that I understand what you do.
AFAIK CDs have to be ripped before anything can be tagged.
So I would assume that afterwards you see a number of files - in this case I also assume those from the normal CD and those from the SACD.
Where do you get the messed up metadata?
Could you show us screenshots?
You do know that you have to align the files on the right with the titles on the left manually?

Sure. Here is the release link: Release group “歌神同行:張學友經典SACD粵語篇·壹” by 張學友 - MusicBrainz

The CD and track numbers reflect the total across all layers (CD and SACD), not just the SACD layer. Manually aligning the files is quite difficult with 11 CDs. Is there a more efficient way to sync the metadata than manual alignment?

I thnk that the manual alignment is the most efficient way.
Or you select only those tracks that should get tag data for each call.

Just as a note:
You can select multiple tracks in the lower right corner at once and move them as 1 block up or down to the right position.

But the CD numbers are wrong, because Mp3tag count them all.

As the data relies on the data source, I think that is more a question which data MusicBrainz supplies.
MP3tag would count CDs with the Track numbering wizard Ctrl-K

At MusicBrainz they start with disc #12:

The admin of the Musicbrainz was told me the same thing. He said that was the problem of the Mp3tag.

They start at disc #12 because I tried deleting the CD layers to make MP3tag work automatically.

The same MusicBrainz-User "silentbird" also says:

Don't remove a valid medium. The scans you uploaded shows that these are hybrid SACDs, not SACDs (see the sticker that says HYBRID STEREO SUPER AUDIO CD). On MusicBrainz, each layer of a hybrid SACD should be entered as its own medium. See https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Style/Release#Medium…

In this edge case, the only advice I can see is to align your songs and then fix your disc numbers manually or with the Auto-Numbering Wizard, as recommended by @ohrenkino.

Could MP3tag potentially add an option to select whether to use CD layer or SACD layer metadata?

I can only speak for my own MB Script:
As it is possible to easily adjust the DISCNUMBER with a few clicks to any number you like in the Auto-numbering Wizard, the effort required for this edge case would be too great.

OK, I understand. Thank you!

I tried manual alignment, but MP3tag scrolled down automatically, froze, and took a long time to recover. Is there anything I could do to make it faster?

You could try to select only 1 or 2 discs from your 22 (or 11?) discs and then search for the metadata and move only those 10-12 tracks up and down compared to the complete metadata presented on the left result side.
Repeat this step with your other discs.

Unfortunately, I don't know what technique (or selected tracks limit) Mp3tag is using to automatically scroll down with the selected tracks using the "Move up" or Move down"-buttons.

AlignTracks

I tried that, but it didn't work because the next CD would replace the first one in the wrong position. I have to do it the other way around, moving up the 'no data' track to replace the position first. Unfortunately, this is slow and inefficient. Anyway, thank you.
