Mp3tag for Mac v1.10 released
I’ve just released Mp3tag for Mac v1.10 and would like to take the opportunity to outline some of the new features and improvements:
Improvements for Settings
The new version offers a Reset to Defaults button on each settings window, which resets all configuration options on that page to their defaults. This makes it easy to return to an initial configuration, for example, for the File List columns or all fields on the Tag Panel.
Under Settings → General, you'll now find a way to manage secure folder access. The dialog lists all folders that Mp3tag currently has access to, making it easy to review and consolidate permissions, as well as add new folders. No more magic Terminal commands required. I generally recommend adding your home directory and any external volumes you use regularly.
Previously, saving an album cover from the Tag Panel (via the context menu or drag and drop) used folder as the default filename. Settings → Export now allows you to configure the default name, including support for placeholders.
Improvements for the File List
This is very much a quality-of-life improvement: I’ve added a Customize… entry to the context menu when right-clicking the File List column header. This lets you jump directly to the corresponding column configuration to edit or add a new column.
There's also a new option to change drag-and-drop behaviour so files are added to the File List by default. In addition, holding ⌥ while dragging toggles between Add and Replace.
Sometimes it’s useful to load only files from the root of a folder without traversing subfolders. This version adds an option to include or exclude subfolders when loading files, available directly in the Open Folder panel.
Improvements for Actions
While it's already possible to export all settings, it can be useful to export only action groups and categories, for example, to share them with other Mp3tag users or simply to make a restorable backup. This version adds support for exporting and importing action groups as JSON files.
I've also added wildcard support (* and ?) to the Import Cover action, making it easier to work with inconsistent filenames.
The Set Cover Properties action now supports placeholders when setting descriptions, and you can now remove history entries for the Replace and Replace with Regular Expression actions.
A few more things
Mp3tag is now localised to Russian, thanks to @PilgrimOV. In addition, I’ve fixed several issues and introduced further quality-of-life improvements, all of which are listed in detail in the Mp3tag for Mac changelog. If anything is unclear or sparks your interest, feel free to ask.
It’s a free update!
(Yes, even after almost five years of free updates .)
You can update the Mac App Store version via the Updates tab in the App Store, and the standalone version from within the app via File → Check for Updates.
If you’re not yet using Mp3tag for Mac, you can try the 7-day trial version—only the days you actually use the app are counted.
Thank you for reading, your interest, and your support.
Enjoy and take care
