Mp3tag for Mac v1.13 released

Mp3tag for Mac v1.13 released

I’ve just released Mp3tag for Mac v1.13 and would like to take the opportunity to outline some of the new features and improvements:

Action to remove "Where from" extended filesystem attributes

This version introduces a new action type Remove "Where from" file attributes that removes the "Where from" extended filesystem attribute from supported files. This attribute is typically added by macOS to files downloaded from the Internet and can be used to mark a file's origin. It's usually only available via Finder's Get Info pane or via the command line.

Added the file_xattr_where_froms information field

This new information field can be referenced via %_file_xattr_where_froms% in various places of Mp3tag and can be used to inspect the "Where from" extended filesystem data which usually contains the URL where the file was downloaded from.(com.apple.metadata:kMDItemWhereFroms)

Support for RF64 WAV files

WAV files larger than 4 GB can use the RF64 format, a multichannel audio file format that supports sizes greater than 4 GB. This release adds support for RF64 WAV files.

Ensuring that unsaved changes from Tag Panel are preserved

A large portion of the work on this release went into ensuring that unsaved changes from the Tag Panel are not discarded when performing other tasks. Previously, cover changes made in the Tag Panel were discarded if the Extended Tags window was used before saving. Also, unsaved Tag Panel changes could be ignored when using Cover Search, Tag Sources, Converters, Auto-Numbering, or Actions before saving.

Bugfixes and Internal Changes

In addition, I've fixed a couple of issues and introduced quality-of-life changes, which are all listed in the Mp3tag for Mac changelog. If something is unclear or sparks your interest, please don’t hesitate to ask.

It's a free update! You can update the Mac App Store version via the Updates tab in the App Store app. If you bought the standalone version from my website, update from within the app via File → Check for Updates.

If you’re not yet using Mp3tag for Mac, you can try the 7-day trial version—only the days you actually use the app are counted.

Thank you for reading, your interest, and your support.

Enjoy and take care
