MP3Tag tries to connect to old SMB share each time

I'm on MacOS 15.3.1 and MP3Tag 1.9.1 (115). I had some issues this week with my network and have replaced all my network cables, router and the drive caddy the my SMB share lived on (the SSD itself was OK) as all were faulty. So this has meant that the original SMB share that I was using with mp3tag is no longer available and I have a new one with a different address. So I open mp3tag, click the little folder with the + in the toolbar to locate files. I guide it to the new SMB share, I locate the files that I need to edit, and open as normal, but now mp3tag gives me a warning that there's something wrong with the SMB server, or it is missing, and the server that it mentions, is the name for the old one that is no longer available. It is odd, because to get to the files, I have already told it the correct SMB share address. I can recreate this each time.

I can't see any way to reset this, so do I need to delete and reinstall, and if so, are there particular folders, say in library/ that may need deleting, too?

Thanks.

Can you please try the following:

  1. Close Mp3tag
  2. Open Terminal.app
  3. Enter these four commands:
defaults delete app.mp3tag.Mp3tag LastOpenDirectory
defaults delete app.mp3tag.Mp3tag LastOpenURLs
defaults delete app.mp3tag.Mp3tag NSNavLastRootDirectory
defaults delete app.mp3tag.Mp3tag SecurityScopedBookmarks

After that, open one of the folders (not individual files) from your server in Mp3tag. Does this change anything?

Yes, thanks, that has fixed, it, much appreciated :+1:

Is there a guide/resources to the convert section, specifically the tag to filename part. I've been using it to fix filenames and keep them uniform, but every so often, I find an album that adds things in the wrong place and I can't figure out why. If I knew what I was doing, it would help

Thanks again, and I bought the license today, great software!

Excellent!

Yes, I've written about it here in the Documentation, let me know if your questions are more specific

Thank you!
