Mp3tag v3.37 released
I've just released Mp3tag v3.37 and wanted to outline some of the new features and changes.
Headings and Information Fields on the Tag Panel
The Tag Panel is the area (usually on the left side of the window) where you can edit the metadata for selected files. It's possible to customize this panel to your preferences and add the tag fields you prefer to edit in your files.
With this release, it's now also possible to use a special _HEADING field, which adds a bold heading to the Tag Panel, making it easy to create nicely organized segments in the Tag Panel.
Beyond that, I also added support for information fields, i.e., fields that are not editable, like file length, bitrate, and many more via the _FORMAT field type. This new field type supports all the information fields and, for maximum flexibility, arbitrary format strings.
Direct text input at Convert → Text file - Tag
If you copy a list of tags from somewhere, you can now simply use Text file - Tag to import from direct input instead of a text file. The converter also has a new live preview, making it easier to spot the effects of running the converter with the given format string.
Tag Sources Improvements
I made lots of quality-of-life changes in the area of Tag Sources: modified search input is now preserved when navigating back, keyboard navigation at Tag Sources settings dialogs incl. window scrolling is now fully supported, and the query results list now preserves the aspect ratio for non-square cover thumbnails. Thanks to @yorickausyps for relentlessly suggesting many of the improvements!
Bugfixes and Internal Changes
As always, this new version includes bug fixes and many other improvements. For example, the selection highlight in dark mode showed a white rectangle, which made text unreadable in recent versions of Windows 11. If you're curious, the changelog has the complete list.
