Mp3tag VIA BSI Info Editor (BSI Simian)

It was an update for itunes (MP4)

[2021-04-02] NEW: added support for MP4 fields ITUNESALBUMID, ITUNESARTISTID, ITUNESCOMPOSERID,

For the 2nd file, it's when I only use compatible tags from Mp3tag via BSI Info Editor, it doesn't erase the other tags...

ohrenkino, I think it was you who mentioned that to me or it was LyricsLover...

For the moment I am using the 2nd file ...

You will soon receive the 2 Mp3tag configuration files via BSI Info Editor (Simian) ...

This update created a new field to become a standard field instead of being a user-defined field. Even though the word COMPOSER appears in ITUNESCOMPOSERID it has nothing to do with COMPOSER (TCOM)

Yes I sent you this copy / paste, because I was wrong, I had read it quickly, several months ago... I was not a member of the group at that time...

To me the Tag Panel looks quite nice and I would say that it will do its duty.
One side note: you will not be able to see the LENGTH in the tag panel - unless you fill that field manually. The genuine information is stored in _LENGTH - but technical properties with names starting with an underscore are not allowed in the tag panel.

And again - what only you can test thoroughly enough: does the scheduler software produce any hicups when you use files that have been tagged with MP3tag exclusively?
If this is not the case, then do not use the BSI editor any more.

To summarize this topic:

You are looking for an easy solution to edit your metadata in your tracks. All the metadata has to be compatible with your BSI Simian Radio Broadcast Software. It should include all the "very special" tags from this BSI software.

I think, I have found a workaround for you!
After many hours of trial and error, I have adjusted a Tag Panel INI for you:
Tag Panel for BSI Simian.ini.txt (5,3 KB)
(remove the extension .txt after downloading the file, it's only needed to attach it directly to this answer).

This workaround has 3 main limitations:

  1. Entered BPM in Mp3tag can not be read by BSI
  2. Entered Hook values are not really userfriendly
(I have no idea how the number 1345 will be transformed into 00:16.9)
  3. I have not found a way to see cover art in BSI

So please test this workaround very thoroughly:

a) Start Mp3tag and click on File -> Options -> Tag Panel -> Utils -> Load configuration
then search for the downloaded Tag Panel INI, select it, open it and press OK.

b) Now you should see all the tags in the Tag Panel in Mp3tag where you can add your metadata. Check the few fields with a drop-down-box. I have prefilled them with values like the Keys A / A-Flat etc
Of course you can adjust them as you like with a double-click in the Options -> Tag Panel on a field and the button below "Custom list values:" called Manage.... They appear alphabetically sorted.

c) Start with an empty mp3 track (or several empty mp3 tracks). Fill all the tags you need later in BSI. Save the changes with CTRL + S or a click on the blue disc icon in the Menu Toolbar.

d) Drag & Drop this modified mp3 tracks into your BSI Simian Radio Software.

e) Check carefully, if all the added metadata from Mp3tag is visible, correct and usable in your BSI Radio Software.

VERY IMPORTANT:
Don't make any changes in your very outdated BSI Info Editor anymore (the one you get if you right click on a song in BSI and click on "Edit Info".) Such changes will mess up the tags in your songs. Especially the comments.
If you load such a BSI modified song back in Mp3tag you get unwanted and incorrect results, including doubling entries etc.

Feedback is very welcome!
I have not been using BSI for a long time. So please let me know if you find any problems with this current Tag Panel field adjustments.

WOW WOW WOW LyricsLover, your work is very impressive...

Sorry, if I didn't answer you right away, I did a lot of TEST, everything works fine, The configuration you programmed is perfect for the Mp3tag program VIA BSI Info Editor (Simian), all the information appears in TAGS in the Simian editor

For the TAG ==> BPM, I notice that it's the only TAG that doesn't work, it doesn't matter, it's very rare that this TAG is used...

You're right, I no longer need to work with BSI Info Editor (Simian), Mp3tag, it's really the best program in the world, to fill in TAGS... Nothing is impossible with this program and thank you again LyricsLover for your hard work and patience...

===> I am writing to BSI Simian users, remember, we can only write 64 characters for most TAGS with BSI Info Editor (Simian), and it is faster to write tags with Mp3tag , because we can EXAMPLE: Fill album tag it's the same information from 2 to 10 tracks and more at the same time...

I found a method to write more than 64 characters, don't tell anyone hahaha, (it doesn't affect Simian) because over 20 years ago HDDs were memory limited and I think BSI had limited the characters because of that, that's my opinion...

Mp3tag allows to write an unlimited number of characters... It's very interesting...

A very big thank you LyricsLover, for your superb work... BRAVO!

For the question of the image, I did some tests, I'll come back to you with that, I found how to do it...

It took a long time in my tests (Windows 7), because the image did not appear, but I found 2 solutions:

  1. I don't like this solution: You take the file of which we don't see the image and you transfer it to another folder and the image appears...

  2. Solution here are the images to understand, it's quite simple... and the TAGS remain in the BSI Info Editor (Simian) no problem...

Glad to hear and thanks for your feedback and the kind words!

The cover art you see in the last screenshot is from Windows File Explorer, not BSI Simian, right?
I tought you can make the Cover Art visible in BSi Simian too or I'm wrong?

Exact LyricsLover, the cover art you see in the last screenshot is from Windows File Explorer, and no, BSI Simian don't have anything for the image, that's what I find a shame, that they not made an UPDATE to place the image, because 20 years ago, placing the image in an MP3 file very rare state, it seems to me...

This is why BSI Simian allows the image to appear in its Radio program, if the image file is written: Artist-Album.jpg (which Mp3tag does very well)

and if the file is placed on the hard disk C
==>BSI32
==>Album Art

When I didn't know Mp3tag Before, I was taking ITUNES, which only wrote the album, I always had to write the artist with a copy/paste, method too long...

I forgot to say a big thank you to ohrenkino, for your collaboration, your help and your research, a great teamwork, thank you...
