Mp4 genre problem

Hello Masterminds and Gurus! :folded_hands:t3:

Im searching for help of, how to get ”genre” to show up in iPhone and my .mp4 clips.

I got the latest versions of iTunes, iOS and your MP3tag tool. (170525)

I used std field for ”genre” in your MP3tag app to add my own ”genres” in all my .mp4 files. Imported them like that into iTunes and there the ”genres” all show up in ”Movies” section.

BUT in my iPhone they dont show in the Apple TV app except for just a few wich i cant understand why :man_shrugging:t3: If i compare in Explorer (win11) i cant se any differences between those few who showed up and all else that didnt  this also in your MP3tag app.

I suspect i have got ”genre” as are showing up in all places are the wrong field for .mp4 and shows only for its a std field used in .mp3:s

Then, im lost in twilight zone about how to add the correct fields in your formidable MP3tag app to get full function in also Apple TV app…

Please :heart_hands::heart_eyes::star_struck: you almighty professionells here in the forum could someone help an oldtimer ”how to” DIY!? :old_man:t2: Greetings from twilight zone

Yours truly, :man_technologist:t3:

Do you update a file that the player has already listed or does the player discover this file as a new file?

Hi Ohrenkino, solution was me not having enough knowledge about all sorts of tags availible in categories. "mediatype" was the answer in my case...im a newbie in tagging files  BUT your comment to my problem gave me strenght to go on searching so now i have learned some more! Greetings Mr Ohrenkino

When importing my clips into iTunes they get imported as ”homevideos” with ”9;Movie” tagged in ”mediatype” . When imported and visible under ”homevideos” i highlight all and go into ”information” on all of them. I see my genre as i have set and then go on to ”alternative” and change setting to ”Movie” instead of homevideos and click apply. All clips then moves to the Movie with correct genre.

Why and what gets changed in meta i dont know but result as wanted…

Perhaps you meant to use the iTunesMediaType tag in this case?

You will notice this Apple-specific tag was designed to tell iTunes what category to sort each file as Music (Normal), Movie, TV Show, etc.

The genre field is usually used to indicate what the musical or movie format follows such as pop, rock, jazz, or classical. This can apply to any of the Apple Media Type categories.

U R correct, itunesgenreid is what i missed before. Problem solved!!!:heart_hands::partying_face::star_struck:
