MusicBrainz WebSource: blocked by virus scanner

Whenever I try to import tags from MusicBrainz I will get warning from virus scanner (Norton/Symantec):

“... prevented the connection to dn711xxx.ca.archive.org because it is a dangerous website...”

However, the tags will get imported ok.

The discogs web source seems to work ok.

Anyone else experience this?

xyz.ca.archive.org is one of the many Cover Art Archive servers (as part of the "Internet Archive" archive.org).

Sometimes the virus scanner detects dangerous or malicious content on one of these servers.

As MusicBrainz only uses these servers to store cover art pictures, the risk is actually very low.

(For those interested: MusicBrainz only stores metadata on its own servers. Cover art pictures are hosted on third-party servers, as mentioned here:

The Cover Art Archive is a cooperation between the Internet Archive and MusicBrainz to form a repository of music cover art (such as the covers of CDs) that is freely and easily accessible. The Cover Art Archive is stored on the Internet Archive's servers and curated by the MusicBrainz community. The images for any release are indexed by MusicBrainz Release ID (MBID).

Thank you very much for the information, you were right, the reason was cover arts. I made a small change to the muscibrainz web source script and removed the cover preview lines from there. Now there is no warnings/errors from virus scanner anymore.

Or you could allow the *.ca.archive.org servers called by Mp3tag web source scripts in your antivirus settings. As the cover art picture is called directly by its MBID, there is a very low risk of downloading anything else.
