I've add a new tag column but when i exports, it doesn't show up in the mp3 I've even open it up in rekordbox and serato the tags is label any help please.
Please show us with a screenshot how you defined the new column.
Do you have a file that shows the right data in
if so, could you show us a screenshot of the extended tags dialogue Alt-T
Thank you for the screenshot - unfortunately, I do not quite see where a problem might be: all the data from the file list also appears in the tag panel.
Which column did you add?
BTW: the screenshot does not show the extended tags which you could display with Alt-T.
The new column is label the year and the genre show up on the shows up but the label doesn't show up on the file maybe it has something to do with the convert
There is no automatism to create columns from the tag data.
There is also no automatism to rename files.
You would have to do that manually.
See the documentation on how to customize the file list
See also the documentation on how to rename files:
I still don't understand how to do it, is there a video explaining it I've curated the column already but trying to figure out how to write it to the file
Ill have another go at it tomorrow.
Use Convert>Tag-Filename and e.g.
Format string: %artist% _ %title% _ %gerne% _ %year%
You write a custom field with the name LABEL and the content "White Label".
Both are written into your mp3 file as you can see in Alt + T in Mp3tag.
But I don't think that Serato or Rekordbox read this custom (= non standard) field and its content.
You can try it the other way:
Write your content "White Label" in Serato or Rekordbox and save it.
Then you can open the same mp3 file in Mp3tag and press Alt + T again on this file.
This way you can see in what field name your 3rd party software writes your information.
Use the same field in Mp3tag to fill your label information for example.
In an old thread from 2008 someone says that the field name you are looking for could be PUBLISHER. You would have to try, if this still works for your current Serato version.
When I also check properties details in Windows genre and year show up, which I added to the column that was already there, same in the DJ software, I do see a #, which I don't know where that came from.
Please enter "White Label" in the field "Label" in the software from your black screenshot (Rekordbox?) and save it.
Then load this mp3 song in Mp3tag and press Alt + T.
Please show us a screenshot from this metadata window.
BTW: Don't rely on the 'Details' option in Windows File Explorer.
The Windows File Explorer only offers a very limited support for metadata.
Your screenshot confirms what @LyricsLover suggested earlier. Use the PUBLISHER field in mp3tag. You may still need to find a way to update this information in Rekordbox or Serato afterwards.
About file renaming... I haven't tried using mp3tag for that purposes, but many years i've used ReNamer Pro by den4b for that. That's even support pascal scripts...!!! Really powerful tool. Maybe it will help someone.
I'll have a go at that.
Dose it have to do with value and field % i notice it slightly different for other tags.
What could the "it" mean in this context?
I've find a solution
