Not Saving Data To Tracks

Hello, I am a long time user of MP3TAG and have even in the past donated to your coffee! I have a concern today, regarding the saving of the data to my files after I click save. None of my data is saving at all! I am not sure why, I havnt changed anything about the manner of which I save my data. It just seems like nothing is saving correctyl (or at all!)

What kind of files are these?
If you have MP3 files: are any APE tags present?
Does this happen only to new files or all files?
Do you get any messages?
What do the settings look like in File>Options>Tags>Mpeg?

tags not updating

I have a strange thing happening. I am trying to change tags on a Mariah Carey CD (either automatically or manually) but despite showing that the updating is happening, when the operation completes, the tags have not changed. I've tried it on 2 different computers and both show the same thing. So somehow the tags seem to be "locked" - is this possible and if so how do I solve this problem. Thanks to anyone who can help.
