Florian, the procedure at Installation & Backup
is perhaps missing a step. If you try just this, you find there is no directory %APPDATA%\Mp3tag. To create it, you have to run the app first.

If you run the program only to create %APPDATA%\Mp3tag and then copy its contents, all you'll get are default settings. There would be little reason to copy default settings from appdata to another computer.
Better than no settings ![]()
Regardless, its a requirement of the procedure.
There would be zero reason to "copy" default settings. You're going to get the defaults anyway on the other system after a new install. Why would you even attempt it?
It ensures you get some settings.
In my case: because the procedure requires it.
Anyone who thinks they know better is welcome to skip it.
