Hi! I was just curious on how to edit the “Publisher” field in Windows Properties through MP3tag, as using “PUBLISHER” comes through as “Producer” in Windows Properties for some reason. I’m new using MP3tag so I’m not sure if I’m missing something or doing something wrong (or if it’s not possible to redirect the entered text lol)
The easiest way would be to use the Windows Explorer to enter the data in a sample field in a test file,
load it into MP3tag,
check in the extended tags dialogue Alt-T the name of the field that shows the test data.
That would be the field that you have to use for the other files
Thank you for the reply! I tried that and now I’m wondering if it’s simply a Windows bug, whatever I enter into the “Publisher” field on Properties switches to the “Producer” field whenever I apply/refresh. Kills my OCD lol but I doubt there’s any way to fix that, typical Windows quirk lol
You could also check Options Ctrl-O > Tags > Mapping if there is something set to map.
In general: do not mix the label for a field with the MP3tag internal field name. As long as you get the data across the applications, the label does not really matter.
How exactly would I do that for, say, entering the Publisher field? I believe I put “VorbisComment” in the Tag field, but for Source would I put “Publisher” and Target = something I create in MP3tag to signify the publisher? Sorry in advance, it’s confusing me a bit lol
See the documentation of the handling of mappings:
But: if there is currently no mapping then I would not add one as that might lead to hiding the data in other applications.
If there is a mapping for Publisher, then I would delete it.
