pulling apart a filename

I have a filename

  1. Donny Osmond - Puppy Love

There is no title nor artist. I would like to first get the artist and the title and put them in the correct tags. Then once that is done, then I will rebuild the filename with the proper information so that it is like the rest of my library.

What I haven't been able to figure out is how to get Donny Osmond as the Artist and Puppy Love as the title. The value of %title% when I do a filename to tag conversion is the whole filename.

Try Convert> Filename - Tag
Enter
%track%. %artist% - %title%

The preview should show you which information will go to which field.

Have you tried TagSouces>FreeDB? I have only just discovered this and it worked great - filled-in many missing tags.
