Quick button to get the album data does not work

Hi there,
I found that the "quick" button to get data from a release is not working. It is the same as the usual button, it asks for the data, for example, if I'm using the Discogs Release ID as chosen selection, the quick button won't show the results directly, but will ask for the Discogs release ID number, even though the data is there already showing up in the text box. It used not to work like that, I remember that back in the day, the data was retrieved automatically when clicking on "quick" button.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Thanks in advance, this would save me lots of time.

Just to get this clear:
grafik

button function
left button quick button, starts last used WSS without further asking
right button starts the last used WSS but shows the search parameters
right button dropdown list lets you select a WSS and then starts the corresponding queries.

And you found that the left button does not work any more as expected? Or did you click the right button?

Hi!
I know the utility of those buttons, what I am saying is that the left button asks, instead of retrieving data automatically.

I got this:

As you can notice, Discogs Release ID is not empty, it has its ID, in this case: 298313

If I click on the left button...

...this shows up:

while this is what should automatically show up:

But it does not...

Left button behaviour is exactly the same as the right one. Which is weird to me because it used to work a few years ago.

And, top of that, my version is up to date:

What happens if you click on the button Siguiente > (with your prefilled Discogs ID)?

I use 3.25h and cannot reproduce - the list I gave in the previous post reflects exactly the behaviour I found in 3.25h

I'm sorry I think I didn't explain it furthermore. To get the retrieved data I have to click on "Siguiente" (Continue).

BTW, same thing happens in two different computers, and two different OS: a W11 laptop and a W10 desktop.

As I tested it with a WSS for Musixmatch, could it be that this behaviour is specific to that discogs WSS?

I tested this with 3 different WS and found the following. The Quick button and the keyboard shortcut for Quick Tag Sources Ctrl+Shift+I "Last used Tag Source (Quick)" work the same probably wrong way for Discogs and MusicBrainz WS, both require the "next" button in the "Search by:" window to be pressed. On the other hand the Bandcamp WS works OK, it skips the "search by" window and immediately shows the "List of search results". Therefore I think it is a bug that simply doesn't show up with every WS.

Just to be sure:
Why should it be "wrong" if you have to possibility to manually change this ID?
If the ID is the correct one, just press Next.
If the ID is wrong, it is the easiest way to get metadata from another release.

As far as I understand the difference between the normal and the quick way to search a WS, it is the purpose of the quick way to skip the process of confirming the search string in the search-by window and get directly to the results window. If you want to manipulate the search you should use the normal way.

Yes, it behaves differently between Tag Sources that use the legacy search dialog and Tag Sources that use the new search dialog with possibly multiple search criteria.

The latter doesn't respect the quick button, which indeed should skip the search dialog, prefill all expected values, and directly jump to the query results.

Thanks for pointing!

That is exactly what I'm meaning. The "quick" utility is not what it should be, because you have to confirm, accept or validate by clicking. I have been using this software for years (since 2014, maybe before), not constantly, but when i got the time to tag my music collection it is my goto utility. Back in the day, the quick button was like it had to be: quick. Just click once on it and you got the results straightway. Right now, i find it isn't like it used to be. And that's my question, or my point. I wonder if there's anything I'm doing wrong whatsoever.

And don't get me wrong: i am really thankful for this software because it does exactly what i want: retrieve data from discogs, which is my holy bible for music. But I'd love to be able to help with suggestions to make it even better and great to all of us we're using it.

I'm so sorry Florian, but I think i don't completely understand what you're saying.
As far as i understand: is it that the wss script has changed since i used it for the last time and then now it is working differently? Could it be that back in the day quick query worked without prompting for the search string while nowadays it does?
Thanks again for your effort and your work for the community. Software developers are gods for me. Kind respect!

Yes, and I'll fix that with the next release. Thanks for reporting this regression.

This should be fixed with Mp3tag v3.26.

@Florian
Tried 3.26 already. God bless you!!!! :face_holding_back_tears:
